Degree and RN StatusYou must be an RN with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, have an Associate of Science in Nursing degree or be pursuing an associate degree and have completed the first year of coursework.

Transfer CreditsStudents can transfer up to 90 designated credit hours, documented by official college transcripts.
Additional Requirements
  • Completion of the first year of an associate in nursing coursework or degree conferral. Completion of all prerequisite coursework prior to enrolling in Benedictine nurse cohort courses and/or an approved academic plan finalized with the academic advisor within one month of notification of program admission.
  • Basic skills in word processing, internet use and email communication.
  • For cohort program admission, a copy of your Nursing License is required.
International Admission Requirements

Foreign Transcript EvaluationA three-year bachelor’s degree program must be deemed equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree program by Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), World Education Services (WES) or Educational Perspectives to qualify for admission to a graduate program.
English Language ProficiencyInternational students applying to graduate programs must meet one of the following requirements on a proficiency exam:

Once you earn your B.S.N. from Benedictine University, you may be able to start our online Master of Science in Nursing program and receive credit for two foundation-level courses in that program: NRHL 5704 Informatics and Technology for Healthcare and NRHL 5724 Organizational and Community Partnerships to Improve Population Health. This is a savings of one full semester (four months) and six credit hours of tuition on your way to an M.S.N.** Furthermore, you may qualify for the Alumni Scholarship, which provides a 25% tuition discount.

Faculty Spotlight: Deborah Jezuit, Ph.D., RN

Dr. Jezuit has been a faculty member at BenU since 2010 as an adjunct and full time since 2014. She has more than 25 years of online, on-ground and clinical teaching expertise, and she has taught all levels of nursing students.

Dr. Jezuit has served as an ICU unit manager and ADN nursing program director. Her professional nursing practice background is in critical care nursing. Her scholarly work focuses on caring, ethics and end-of-life issues.

The RN to B.S.N. program can be completed in as few as 14 months.

In order to begin the BenU RN to B.S.N. courses, you must have passed the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) after earning either an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing or an Associate of Science in Nursing degree.

Students who are pursuing an associate degree in nursing are invited to apply for admission to the program after completing the first year of nursing courses at their community college.

You will complete a total of 70 hours of clinical practice experience in the community and at a healthcare setting in your community during two courses, NRHL 4366 and NRHL 4394.
