Benedictine offers the M.S.N./M.B.A. Dual Degree online to nursing professionals interested in advancing to administrative and leadership positions in health care settings. You’ll take 18-21 courses to finish the program, as opposed to the 20-24 courses required for students earning each degree separately.

We designed our comprehensive online dual M.S.N./M.B.A. program to meet the needs of today’s growing health care landscape. When the program begins, you will take the M.S.N. degree’s nursing leadership courses, followed by courses for the M.B.A. degree. Upon completion, you will earn two diplomas and emerge as an empowered nursing professional with advanced clinical expertise and strategic business savvy.

To pursue the dual M.S.N./M.B.A. online with Benedictine University, you must be accepted into both programs. We support your success by offering a simple admissions process with no application fee, GRE score or GMAT score required, making it easier to get started.

Degree and Minimum GPAA bachelor’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.75.
TranscriptsTo qualify for transfer credit, the course must be an appropriate graduate-level course completed with a grade of “B” or better within the last five years at a regionally accredited college or university to be reviewed by the faculty, department chair and/or program director for approval.
Transfer CreditsOfficial transcripts from any and all previously attended colleges and universities.
Additional Requirements
  • One letter of recommendation from a professional reference who is familiar with the applicant’s competence in the practice of nursing and potential for successful graduate education
  • Resume detailing your professional work experience
  • Letter of intent — guidelines are available from your admissions counselor
International Admission Requirements

Our online programs give students around the world a convenient path to new career skills. In addition to the standard admission requirements, international students must provide the following items.

Foreign Transcript EvaluationA three-year bachelor’s degree program must be deemed equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree program by Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), World Education Services (WES) or Educational Perspectives to qualify for admission to a graduate program.
English Language ProficiencyInternational students applying to graduate programs must meet one of the following requirements on a proficiency exam:
  • TOEFL Internet-Based Test: 79; with a writing sub-score minimum of 20.
  • IELTS Academic: 6.5; with a writing sub-score minimum of 6.

Faculty Spotlight: Alison Ridge, D.N.P., RN, CNE

Dr. Ridge has been on the faculty at BenU since 2012. She has extensive online, on-ground and clinical teaching expertise and has taught all levels of nursing students.

Her philosophy of teaching focuses on partnering with students to promote their success and that mutual learning occurs. Her professional nursing practice background includes care of adults and older adults with mental health issues. Additionally, she has expertise working in the community delivering health promotion programs. Her scholarly work focuses on caring in student and faculty interactions, supporting adjunct faculty and reflective practices of staff nurses to address human suffering.

Dr. Bjorkman has been full-time with Benedictine for eight years, after a 25-year career in corporate environments working in organization development (OD), HR transformation, change communications and employee engagement. Her professional experiences with multinational corporations such as GE, HSBC, British Petroleum, Allstate, Sara Lee and Takeda Pharmaceuticals have given her a wealth of on-the-job experience with organizational change and leadership development. She is a published author on change communication and continues to conduct research, write and consult with organizations on this topic.
