Core Courses
Credits
Promotes advocacy for nursing’s professional responsibility to provide equitable care to all persons. Students will develop their role in advancing social justice issues and supporting inclusion of diverse persons in practice.
Prerequisite: Admission to the RN B.S.N. program. Includes clinical experiential activities.
Recognizes nursing as a scientific discipline that incorporates arts and humanities into professional practice. Students will integrate multiple perspectives into nursing practice.
Prerequisite: Admission to the RN B.S.N. program. Concurrent with NRHL 3328.
Creates a professional nursing identity that incorporates core nursing values. Students will identify the need for ethical comportment, and accountability to laws, policies, and regulations.
Prerequisite: Admission to the RN B.S.N. program. Concurrent with NRHL 3326.
Engages students in the collection, translation, and dissemination of evidence to improve patient outcomes. Students will generate questions, examine, and synthesize evidence to support practice changes, and promote ethical conduct in scholarly endeavors.
Prerequisite: Admission to the RN B.S.N. program.
Collaborates with interprofessional disciplines to examine safe and quality care within the organization. Students will evaluate and recommend changes to policy to improve quality and safety outcomes.
Prerequisite: Admission to the RN B.S.N. program. Includes clinical experiential activities.
Develops a professional demeanor open to professional development and self-care. Students will reflect upon professional growth and maturity, and capacity for leadership roles.
Prerequisite: Admission to the RN B.S.N. program. Concurrent with NRHL 4364. Includes clinical experiential activities.
Describes the continuous evolution of healthcare systems and changes necessary to meet local, national, and global healthcare needs. Students will examine organizational structure and cost and reimbursement issues to serve as advocates for the needs of diverse populations.
Prerequisite: Admission to the RN B.S.N. program. Concurrent with NRHL 4360. Includes clinical experiential activities.
Applies best practices to utilize information and communication technologies to support care to patients, communities, and populations. Students will evaluate optimal communication and technologies to address needs and identify gaps.
Prerequisites: NRHL 3324, 3326, 3328, 3348, 4300, 4360, 4364. Students who receive a grade of B or better can receive credit for NRHL 5704 in the M.S.N. program. Includes clinical experiential activities.
Identifies population healthcare needs regionally and globally. Students will identify partnerships to advance equitable care to improve population health. Students will contribute to policy development and evaluation for disasters and public health emergencies.
Prerequisites: NRHL 3324, 3326, 3328, 3348, 4300, 4360, 4364. Students who receive a grade of B or better can receive credit for NRHL 5724 in the M.S.N. program. Includes clinical experiential activities.

Credits
