Public Health Grant Writing

Discover the joy of grant writing and helping public health programs grow.

Public health programs require funding, and charitable donations can only go so far. That’s where grants come into the picture — and grant writers. In PBHL 6502 Public Health Grant Writing, you’ll go week by week through the stages of the grant writing process.

In this course, you’ll learn how a grant goes from hope to reality. You’ll learn the role of research in seeking out a credible topic and finding potential funding sources. You’ll discover the importance of good writing skills to communicate your proposal.

Sharing Your Views and Learning from Others

Regular discussions enhance your learning experience via interaction with your professors and peers on a range of relevant topics. The following is a sample discussion you may have in this course:

Discussion

Collaboration

A plan for collaboration is often a key element to health care grants. When you include a plan to collaborate with other organizations, you demonstrate to the potential funder that sharing resources and expertise with like-minded organizations is an important part of the project. It will also likely influence both its success and long-term sustainability.

Discuss how you will create collaboration for your proposal. Include the organizations you will reach out to and how you will engage them in the effort. As you are reading the collaboration ideas of others, think about how you can continue to strengthen your own collaboration plan.
