Depending on your previous experience, you can take 21 – 23 courses to complete our online dual master’s degree program, as opposed to the 24 – 26 courses required for students seeking each degree separately. As a signal of our quality curriculum, the M.P.H. component of this dual degree program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
While completing our M.P.H./M.S.M.O.B. dual degree program online, you will take an array of management and public health courses to develop expertise in health behavior, epidemiology, human resource planning, global strategic management and more. Additionally, the program includes a public health internship that provides hands-on experience under our expert faculty’s supervision.
For this online program, you will take all courses for one degree before you begin the second degree. After completing the program, you will earn two diplomas.

Through the public health internship, you will apply what you have learned through hands-on practice under our faculty’s supervision. Whether you are looking to advance with your current employer or position yourself for a new career, the internship will give you 240 hours of field experience that can strengthen your resume.
Intern With Your Current Organization
We understand that returning to school while managing a full-time career and an internship can be a heavy workload. That said, if you already work in your desired field, you can complete your internship with your current employer by meeting these requirements:
- You’ll be engaged in activities that are not a part of your regular job.
- Your employer will guarantee that the required clock hours for the internship don’t overlap with those for which you’re already compensated under your current employment contract.
- There will be a qualified preceptor (master’s degree trained personnel in a field related to public health) within the place of employment who can oversee the internship experience.

Krishna Bhagat, Ph.D., M.P.H., M.C.H.E.S.®, Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health
Faculty Spotlight: Krishna Bhagat, Ph.D., M.P.H., M.C.H.E.S.®
Dr. Krishna Bhagat is an assistant professor in the Department of Public Health. Dr. Bhagat has experience managing large-scale research studies at an independent research company called NORC at the University of Chicago. She is also very passionate about addressing public health issues that affect societies across the globe and spent four years helping to develop, lead and teach an immersive Global Public Health program for undergraduate students.
Dr. Bhagat’s research interests include examining taken-for-granted public health ‘stories’ from a more critical lens so that we can work together to promote health in more holistic, effective, inclusive and safer ways.
Dr. Bhagat is also the on-campus student adviser and works closely with the Public Health Student Organization. She is happy to set aside time to speak with students about their career aspirations or opportunities to be involved in research or service projects in public health.

Faculty Spotlight: Julie Bjorkman, Ph.D.
Dr. Bjorkman has been full-time with Benedictine for eight years, after a 25-year career in corporate environments working in organization development (OD), HR transformation, change communications and employee engagement. Her professional experiences with multinational corporations such as GE, HSBC, British Petroleum, Allstate, Sara Lee and Takeda Pharmaceuticals have given her a wealth of on-the-job experience with organizational change and leadership development. She is a published author on change communication and continues to conduct research, write and consult with organizations on this topic.
