Health care reform and concerns about public health have drawn attention to the importance of teaching individuals and communities about healthy lifestyles. MPH 609 Cultural Context of Health
This course provides information on the cultural and sociological contexts in which the health care system developed. Students examine the role of socio-economic groups in the history of the U.S. health care system.
MPH 632 Public Health Education Methods
Students will learn educational techniques that encourage behavior change and how to best apply them in various settings.

MPH 634 Public Health Education Programs and Skills (Elective)
Focuses on health education programs and the skills required for the Certified Health Educator Specialist (CHES) examinations.
MPH 664 Marketing of Health Services (Elective)
This course examines decisions and actions that successful health leaders apply in marketing planning, strategy, research and implementation of marketing plans. Students will explore concepts of marketing theory and the execution of marketing tactics as they apply to the health industry.
MPH 688 Media, Technology, & Public Health (Elective)
Students will learn to assess, evaluate and develop plans for health education communication using the Internet and other media-based technologies. The course also examines ways to apply the principles of effective risk management and crisis communications to address the health needs of specific audiences.
