Dr. Debbie Simmons has been in the nursing profession for 26 years with emphasis in advanced practice nursing, evidence based practice and quality and performance measurement. She has worked the last 17 years advanced practice nursing roles that have also included independent private practice, consultant, training and staff development, healthcare executive in managed care settings, and graduate/undergraduate faculty positions delivering both on-ground and online curriculum in nursing predominately with Master’s and Doctoral students. She is a graduate of University of Detroit Mercy with a BSN and completed her Masters at Wayne State University as an Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, with a post Masters Specialist Certificate in Nursing Education. She holds an earned Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Rush University and has research interests in organizational and systems leadership, occupational and environmental health, and nursing education and teaching strategies and curriculum design. She is presently working as a Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Executive in a managed healthcare organization.
